In the yoga and aerobics classes at Studio PI, the object of the training is:
a more conscious use of the body.
Conscious use is stimulated by:
breathing in the right way
muscle strengthening, especially the key muscles: the muscles which stabilize the central pillar of our body.
These muscles also provide strength and flexibility to the trunk of the body.
making the joints more supple
improvement of balance and coordination.
In the Yoga Class, we use aids such as back stretchers and shoulder-stand benches to ease relaxation and mobilization of shoulders and back . These also help in the attainment of upside-down positions.
In the Yoga Conditioning Class (c.yoga), we work with a series of yoga movements as used in Power Yoga. We strengthen heart, lungs muscles tendons and joints.
In the Muscle Strengthening + Stretching Class (v☺), we practice yoga based exercises as used in Pilates training, f.e. "the 5 tibetans"
The Muscle-Strengthening Class (v) begins with warming up to music; we continue with weights, dynabands, body bars, stomach muscle apparatus and sometimes steps.
In the early 8 o’clock Outdoor Class (buiten), we train in the Sarphati Park, unless it is raining, snowing, or very windy. Please bring outdoor sports shoes.
Now and then, we give a DO-IN (self massage) class.
